Press release no. 220

In celebration of Ragusa's co-patron saint, Saint George the Martyr, some changes have been made to ordinary traffic. Specifically, the following has been implemented:

the establishment of one-way traffic, from 6:00 PM on May 30, 2026 to 2:00 AM on the following day, May 31, 2026, and from 4:00 PM on May 31, 2026 to 2:00 AM on the following day, June 1, 2026, on the road sections and in the direction of travel indicated below:
• Corso Mazzini, Piazza Repubblica – Via Monelli section (excluding residents and authorised persons);
• Via Monelli, section C.so Mazzini – Piazzale Cimitero Centrale (excluding residents and authorised persons);
• Peschiera descent, section via Cap. Bellina – via Avv. Di Quattro and section via Di Quattro – SS 194 “junction for Giarratana” (excluding residents and authorised persons);
• Via Avv. Di Quattro, Ottaviano district – Peschiera descent;
• Ottaviano ring road (Largo San Paolo - via Di Quattro section) except shuttle buses, TAXI, NCC;
2. the establishment of a traffic ban from 6:00 PM on May 30, 2026, to 2:00 AM on the following day, May 31, 2026, and from 4:00 PM on May 31, 2026, to 2:00 AM on the following day, June 1, 2026, on the road sections and in the direction of travel indicated below:
• Corso Italia, in the section from via San Vito – via XXIV Maggio (excluding residents and authorised vehicles);
• Via XXIV Maggio, Corso Italia – Corso Mazzini section (excluding residents and authorised vehicles);
• Corso Mazzini, section via XXIV Maggio – via Monelli, (excluding residents and authorised persons);
• Corso Don Minzoni, section Piazza Repubblica – Largo San Paolo;
• Via Conte Cabrera (excluding residents and authorized persons);
• Via Duomo;
• Corso XXV Aprile section Piazza GB Odierna – Piazza Duomo;
• Corso Don Minzoni, section via Risorgimento – Largo San Paolo (excluding residents and authorised persons);
• Avv. G. Ottaviano ring road, stretch L.go S. Paolo – Viale Margherita (with the exclusion
of residents, authorized and licensed tourist buses that will be able to travel only in the direction of travel towards Viale Margherita);
Traffic will be permitted on Via Addolorata until reaching the Piazzale del Cimitero Centrale or the Scassale district;
3. activation on the following ZTLs:
• ZTL “A” (A1 gate in viale Margherita and A2 in via Giardino) on Friday 29 May 2026, from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am, Saturday 30 May from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am on 31 May and Sunday 31 May from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 2:00 am on 1 June 2026;
• ZTL “C” (gateway C1 of l.go Camerina – Conte Cabrera) Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May 2026, from 4pm to 2am the following day;
4. the establishment of a parking ban with forced removal, on the following roads, days and times:
a) from 4:00 PM on Saturday 30 May to 2:00 AM on Sunday 31 May 2026 and from 2:00 PM on Sunday 31 May to 2:00 AM on Monday 1 June 2026:
• in Piazza del Popolo in the area in front of the covered parking;
• along the entire Ottaviano ring road (section between the Church of SS. Trovato and Largo S. Paolo);
• on Via Risorgimento in the section between number 49 and number 51 (intersection with Viale Sicilia);
b) From 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026
- via Giusti, both sides - entire stretch;
- Via Orfanotrofio, in the stretch between Piazza Pola and L.go Camerina;
- via Torrenuova, both sides – entire stretch;
- via XI Febbraio – entire stretch;
- via Duomo - entire stretch on both sides;
- via Porta Modica, both sides – entire stretch;
- Via Del Portale both sides – entire stretch;
- Chiaramonte square;
c) From 5.30pm to 12.00am on Saturday 30 May 2026:
- Chiaramonte square;
- entire stretch of Via Delle Suore;
- via Orfanotrofio section piazza Pola via Delle Suore;
- via M. Paternò Arezzo from Piazza Duomo to the second parking space after the first bend in the direction of Salita San Nicola and on both sides of the final stretch between number 3 and via Ten. Distefano;
- Via Chiaramonte in the section between Via del Mercato and Piazza Chiaramonte;
- via XI Febbraio – entire stretch;
- via Duomo - entire stretch on both sides;
- via Giardino - entire stretch;
- via Ten. Distefano - both sides - section via XI Febbraio and via Maria Paternò Arezzo;
d) From 4.00 pm to 12.00 am on Sunday 31 May 2026:
- Largo Camerina in the section between Via Conte Cabrera and Via Orfanotrofio (excluding the widenings on the sidewalks);
2) via M. Paternò Arezzo from Piazza Duomo to Salita San Nicola – (reserved for authorities);
a) via Orfanotrofio, in the section between via S. Maria La Nova and largo Camerina (excluding the widenings on the sidewalks);
b) Via Delle Suore;
c) via Ten. La Rocca;
d) via Cap. Bocchieri;
e) via Duomo - entire stretch on both sides;
f) via XI Febbraio – entire stretch;
g) via Ten. Distefano (both sides) - entire section;
h) Via Giardino in the section between Via Ten. La Rocca and Piazza GB Odierna;
i) From 09.00 on Friday 29 May 2026 to 24.00 on Sunday 31 May 2026, with the exception of vehicles transporting explosive material for fireworks and audio/video service vehicles:

- Via Del Mercato on the left side (the widening between number 106 and number 104) in the direction of Piazza Repubblica;
- Via Del Mercato on the right side (from number 82, equal to 10 spaces in the direction of Piazza Repubblica);
f) on 29 and 30 May 2026 from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM and on 31 May 2026 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on: Ottaviano ring road, at the widening for the boarding and alighting of tourist and extra-urban buses and in the subsequent paid parking area, except for organization vehicles displaying the appropriate identification pass, that of television broadcasters and residents;
5. On May 30, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM the following day, and on May 31, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM the following day, in derogation of the current parking and stopping bans in place, parking will be permitted on:
• via Avv. G. Di Quattro, right side - entire section - in the direction of Peschiera descent;
6. To prohibit vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the fireworks display on May 29, 30, and 31, 2026, near the Church of San Giorgio (including Via Duomo) and on Corso Don Minzoni in the section between Via Risorgimento and Largo San Paolo/Ottaviano ring road, according to reports from traffic police officers;
7. To prohibit parking, with the obligation of forced removal, and vehicular and pedestrian transit, and the lighting of fireworks in the entire parking lot below the Iblei Gardens:
- from 8.30 to 12.15 and from 17.30 to 22.00 on 29 and 30 May 2026;
- from 7.30 am to 12.15 pm and from 5.30 pm to 10.00 pm on 29 and 30 May 2026;
8. Vehicle transit is prohibited during the processions of May 29, 30 and 31, 2026;
The following are exempt from the obligation to comply with the transit bans and one-way systems on Corso Don Minzoni and the Ottaviano ring road: shuttle buses, emergency and police vehicles, public service vehicles in the square, vehicles serving citizens with reduced or impaired motor skills equipped with the appropriate permit, residents, commercial and/or artisan businesses.
Ragusa Ibla, provided they are authorized or in possession of a "PASS", compatible with the carrying out of processions, demonstrations and traffic;
A free shuttle bus service will be provided connecting Ragusa Superiore (Piazza del Popolo) to Ragusa Ibla (Ottaviano ring road - Church of SS. Trovato) on the following days:
• Saturday 30 May 2026 from 6.00 pm to 2.00 am on 31 May 2026;
• Sunday 31 May 2026 and from 4.00 pm to 2.00 am on 1 June 2026;
The Local Public Transport buses will run their regular routes to Ragusa Ibla according to the following timetables:
• Saturday 30 May 2026 until 8.00 pm;
• Sunday 31 May 2026 until 7:00 pm.

Temporary signage will be placed in the areas affected by the measures.
