Press release no. 228
Ragusa and its Hyblaean beaches remain among the best in Italy for welcoming families. With the award of the 2026 Green Flags by Italian pediatricians, Marina di Ragusa has once again earned this title, cementing its reputation as a safe and accessible destination for children.
A record that has been confirmed for years and which is linked to the quality of the entire province of Ragusa, the true queen of the season with 7 awarded locations out of 19 in Sicily.
The Green Flag award, awarded based on the recommendations of over 3,000 pediatricians, requires rigorous requirements: wide, sandy beaches, shallow, gently sloping waters, constant lifeguards for maximum safety, as well as integrated family-friendly amenities such as play areas, sports facilities, and nearby restaurants.
"The reconfirmation of the Green Flag for Ragusa," said Mayor Peppe Cassì, "is not only a source of pride, but also a testament to the administrative planning and synergy with private operators that endures and strengthens everyone. Being chosen by pediatricians means certifying that our seaside village offers a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment for children. This recognition is part of an enviable provincial framework, making the area as a whole a destination capable of making quality of life its main calling card."
"This flag," continues Andrea Distefano, Councilor for the Districts, "recognizes the daily work we dedicate to the care, maintenance, and enhancement of our coastal districts. The strength of our proposal lies in our continuity and our ability to network within the Iblean area. In an increasingly competitive global tourism market, the Green Flag represents an objective guarantee for families who choose our seaside."
